Pearl Newguard
Estherville – Services for Mrs. Pearl B. Newguard, 88, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Estherville Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. She died Sunday, Sept. 15, 1991 at Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 3 – 9 p.m. Wednesday.

She was born Oct. 19, 1902 at Wallingford, the daughter of Peter S. and Christie (Herum) Anderson and attended rural Wallingford School and graduate from Estherville High School, also from Cedar Falls Teacher College with a BA degree in Education. On May 7, 1935 she married Carl O. Newguard at Estherville. The couple lived in Wallingford until 1941 when they moved to Estherville. She taught school may years. She has been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since September of 1982. She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, ELCW, and served on the funeral committee.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Kline, Irving, Texas; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Louis Anderson, Milltown, Wis.; nieces and nephews including Stanley and Richard Egertson of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband March 23, 1985, one sister and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 18, 1991)
