Wallingford – Alma G. Nelson, 81, formerly of Wallingford, died Sunday [September 30, 1979] morning at the Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church, with interment to follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, after noon Tuesday.

Miss Nelson was born Feb. 8, 1898, in rural Wallingford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels L. Nelson. She was educated in the rural and Wallingford schools and attended the Lutheran Bible School, St. Paul, Minn., in 1928-29.

She made her home in Wallingford since 1912 and was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church. She became a resident of the Lakeside Lutheran Home, Emmetsburg, in 1968.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Helen Refsell, Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, James Nelson, Wallingford; a niece, Stella Masters Patterson (raised in the Nelson family as a sister), Tacoma; and other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 2, 1979)
