Estherville – Services for Blanche E. Munson, 87, of Estherville, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with pastors Arlyn Norris and Jane Johnston officiating. Interment will be at the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. She died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on April 1, 1911 in Kalispell, Mt., the daughter of Milton M. and Mollie (Bond) Cook. The family lived in Washington State, California and New York before moving to Estherville in 1930. She received her education in Olean, New York and graduated from Roberts College in North Chili, N.Y.

On May 21, 1933, she was united in marriage to Leonard Munson in Estherville. In 1937 the family moved to Lakefield, MN, for three years where they operated a grocery store. The couple then purchased a grocery store from Christ Larson in Wallingford, which they operated for 36 years, retiring and closing the store in 1976. She was active in the Wallingford Lutheran Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Mayflower. In 1984, the couple moved to Estherville, where they rejoined the Estherville Lutheran Church. She was a member of the ELCW and the Elizabeth Circle.

Survivors include a son, James L. Munson, Estherville and a sister, Esther Voulker, Toecon [?], GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on June 7, 1996; her parents; two brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 14, 1998)
