Rural Estherville Man’s Services Set Wednesday
Estherville – Nels Meng, 88, rural Estherville died at 3:45 a.m. today in Valley Vue Nursing Home, Armstrong.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Gruver, with the Rev. Dale Jenson officiating. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, after 1 p.m. Tuesday until noon on Wednesday.

He was born July 13, 1885 at Kimballton to Nels and Marie Christopherson Meng. He was educated in the Kimballton area schools and was married to Lena Aanonson on Aug. 27, 1942 in Jackson.

Mr. Meng farmed on the south shore of Swan Lake until he retired in 1956. He remained on the farm until December 1973 when he entered Valley Vue Nursing Home, Armstrong.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Gruver.

Survivors include his wife, Lena; two brothers, Alfred and Nick Meng, both of Emmetsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. (Estherville Daily news, Estherville, IA, March 18, 1974)
