Lydia Madison, age 77, Dies; Rites Will Be Friday
Mrs. Albert (Lydia) Madison, 77, died yesterday at 1:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville after a lingering illness.Mrs. Madison was born on Feb. 3, 1892, in Luverne, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Werling. She received her education in Luverne.
She married Albert Madison Oct. 10, 1912, at Renwick. They lived at Goldfield until 1918, when they moved to Ormsby Minn. In 1932 they moved to a home near Halfa. Two years later they moved to Wallingford. They moved to the Spirit Lake area in 1946 and back to Wallingford in 1952.
She was a member of the Lutheran church in Wallingford.
Surviving are her husband, four sons, Orville, St. James, Minn., Bernard, Owatonna, Minn., Albert Jr., Ringsted, and Edwin, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Alice) Torreson, Wallingford; 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers, Carl, Humboldt, George, California, William, Badger, Albert, Goldfield, Elmer, Goldfield and Ernest, Renwick; and one sister, Mrs. Robert Blumer, Luverne. Preceding her in death were her parents and an infant daughter and five sisters.
Her hobbies were gardening braising flowers and handiwork.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home until 11:00 a.m. Friday at which time the body will be moved to the church.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Wallingford Lutheran Church with Rev. John Pannkuk officiating. A family service will precede the ceremonies at 1:30.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Wallingford.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dennis, Kenneth, Gerald, Daryl and Eldon Madison and Wayne Torreson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 19, 1969)
