The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Maaland passed away on Wednesday [February 7, 1923 per cemetery records] morning, the funeral was held last Friday afternoon. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives and friends. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 14, 1923)

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Maaland on Monday, February fifth, a daughter but she was not destined to this [words missing] Thursday after a short illness due to heart trouble.
