Funeral Held for R. Lowman in Wallingford
Small Boy Dies; Ill Short TimeWallingford, Aug. 7. – Funeral services for little Roy Lowman were held Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lowman and children were visiting at Ames when the little boy became ill. He was ill but a few days and then died. The funeral was held here at the Methodist church and burial was made at Riverside cemetery. Four of the Boy Scouts were pallbearers. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, August 8, 1929)
Lost Their Five Year Old Son
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lowman, of Wallingford, mourn the death of their five year old son, Roy Fremont, who passed away in the Mary Greely hospital at Ames Thursday morning at 9:30. On Thursday the little boy was stricken with an illness that resembled appendicitis. He was rushed to the hospital but nothing could be done for him and he passed away the following Thursday morning. Mrs. Lowman and the children were visiting relatives at Ames when the boy was taken ill. Mr. Lowman, who is state manager for the Enderes Tool co., was working for the company in the vicinity of Ames. The remains were taken to Wallingford for burial. Services were conducted at the Methodist Episcopal church Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Fremont Faul of Graettinger officiating. There was a very large attendance at the funeral. Besides the sorrowing parents the little boy is survived by four brothers and one sister and by two grandfathers and one grandmother. All have the sympathy of their many friends in their sorrow. Roy Lowman and family of Wallingford visited his brother, Rob Lowman, and Mrs. Norlin Soderstrum of near here last week and returned home with the body of their baby who died while here. (Ames Daily Tribune and Evening Times, Ames, IA, August 8, 1929)
