Two fatalities Monday afternoon
Estherville – According to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Department, Trygve Larson [Larsen], 67, rural Estherville, was killed when the 1978 motorcycle he was riding and a 1970 pickup driven by Donald Planting, 17, Estherville, collided.

The accident occurred at 4:01 p.m. Monday about two miles south and one mile west of Estherville at the intersection of two county gravel roads.

Larson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The pickup, owned by Russell Planting, sustained approximately $1,000 damage to the front, while the motorcycle, owned by Scott Larson, was considered a total loss. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 18, 1981)

Trygve Larsen
Estherville – Services for Trygve E. Larsen, 67, rural Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Wallingford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery, with military graveside rites. He died Monday afternoon.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home Estherville, after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Mar. 23, 1914 at rural Estherville and has lived in Twelve Mile Lake Township all his life. He was the son of John and Johanna Larsen. He attended and graduated from the Graettinger schools and attended Waldorf College one year. On Dec. 8, 1946 he was married to Evalyn Strube at Terril. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War Two.

Mr. Larsen was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Sons of Norway.

He is survived by his wife Evalyn; two sons Scott Larsen, Estherville and Bill Larsen, Hudson, Ia.; one brother Lester, rural Estherville; and one sister, Mrs. Inga Hubbard, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 19, 1981)
