Wallingford – Services for Erma Laidig, 74, who died Sunday [September 4, 1988] at her home in Estherville, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wallingford Lutheran Church in Wallingford with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in East Side Cemetery in Estherville with the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home handling the arrangements. Erma S. Laidig was born on August 17, 1914 at Sherburn, Minn. to Henry and Emma (Kahler) Jurries. She was educated in the Sherburn schools and on March 14, 1934 married Paul Laidig in Estherville. The couple made their home in the Emmet County and Estherville area following their marriage. She was employed at the Emmet County Care Facility, Riverview Golf Club and Stafford’s Café in Estherville. Mrs. Laidig was a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband Paul of Estherville; three sons, Erwin and Harley Laidig of Estherville and Richard Laidig of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; four daughters: Darlene Davis of Des Moines, Deloris Eisenbacker of Estherville, Mrs. Dane (Gwendolyn) Butz of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Dennis (Sandra) VanRyswyk of Carlisle; three brothers: Ervin and Richard Jurries of Dunnell, Minn. and Harold Jurries of Waerloo; four sisters: Alice Locker of Lodi, Calif., Mrs. Mike (Helen) Sands of Alpha, Minn., Pearl Lickliter of Redlands, Calif and Mrs. John (Ruth) Nena of Hartford, Ark.; twenty-four grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Paul, Jr., her parents, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, Estherville, IA, September 7, 1988)
