Joseph Herum, Wallingford, Dies; Rites Set
Wallingford – Joseph [Gilmore] Herum, 70, Wallingford, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday [February 13, 1970] afternoon at Holy Family Hospital from cancer. He had been ill for three years.He was born July 19, 1899, at Wallingford to Jacob and Ina Herum. He was educated in the High Lake Township schools and went to Jewell College at Jewell.
On Feb. 24, 1925, he was married to Maggie Amdahl at Wallingford. The couple lived near Willmar, Minn., where they farmed. He was in the implement business at Bricelyn, Minn., for 11 years. In 1952, he moved to Emmetsburg and then to Wallingford in 1955.
He was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, one son, Marvin, Terril; two grandsons, Gary and Tracy, Terril; two brothers, Percy, Dolliver, and Robert, Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Forrest (Margaret) Peterson, Graettinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallingford Lutheran church with Rev. John Pannkuk officiating. Burial will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville until 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 16, 1970)
