Pittsburg, Pa. – Services for Robert [Gerald] Herum, 82, of Pittsburg formerly of Estherville, will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with Pastor Virgil Anderson officiating. Interment will be held in the Wallingford Cemetery at Wallingford. He died Friday, July 24, 1992 at the Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Boro, Pa.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

He was born March 2, 1910 in Wallingford, the son of Jacob and Ina (Bauge) Herum, and attended country schools and Estherville High School. He married Florence Nicholson in 1940 in Ames. He joined the United States Navy following his marriage and served in the Pacific as a CB during World War II. After the war, he returned to Estherville where he was employed as a carpenter. In the mid 1950’s the couple moved to Lexington, Ky. and later to Pittsburg, in the early 1980’s. He was a member of the Anna Ashley United Methodist Church in Munhall; DAV; and the American Legion Man-O-War 8.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Donald Herum; two daughters, Roberta Henderson and Marilyn Herum; one sister, Mrs. Forrest Peterson of Graettinger; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1992)
