Ina May Bauge Herum 1875-1933

Mrs. Ina Herum, 57, passed away at 3:30 Monday morning, January 2, at the home of her son, Joe Herum, who lives east of Wallingford. She has been suffering from a tumor on her brain which paralyzed her throat so that she was unable to eat or talk for some time. She has been poorly for the last year.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 at the house and at 1:00 o’clock at the Riverside Church on Thursday. Rev. Nordsletten will officiate. Burial will be made in the Riverside cemetery.

Ina Bauge was born on February 7, 1875. She taught school for several years. She was married in 1896 to Jacob Herum. They have lived on a farm near High Lake since the time of their marriage until the time of the death of her husband who passed away seven years ago. She then moved to Estherville. A few months ago she was taken to her son’s home to be cared for.

She leaves to mourn five children: Percy of Dolliver, Joe and Raymond of Wallingford, and Robert and Margaret of Estherville. She also has five sisters and several brothers. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 4, 1933)

Note: per 1884 Iowa census, parents were Joseph Bauge and Julia [Halvorson] Bauge and Ina was born in Colorado
