Eric [Erick] Herum Dead
Eric Herum, an old time resident of this county, but who with the exception of the last few months, has been living for the past twenty years in Dakota, died on Friday [January 2, 1920] at the home of his sister, Mrs. P.S. Anderson, near Wallingford.
Mr. Herum was born in 1848 in Norway and when he was but a year old he moved with his parents to this country. They became residents of Dane county, Wisconsin, living near Madison. They moved to Emmet county in 1869 living near High Lake where they resided for many years. About twenty years ago he moved to Dakota but about a year ago he returned to his country, and resided at the home of his sister, Mrs. P.S. Anderson.
He leaves to mourn his death three sisters and five brothers. Mr. Herum was a man of exceptional habits, a man who always looked after his own affairs and a good neighbor, well liked by all.
The funeral services were held today from the church at Wallingford, the Rev. Hanson and the Rev. Strand officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Wallingford. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 7, 1920)
