Death of Mr. Stephen Egertson
Passed away at the age of 25 years at his home near Wallingford early Friday morning, June 18th.The death of Mr. Egertson has cast a deep gloom over the people of this community and many are the sincere regrets to be heard from all who knew him. Death came quietly and peacefully at 3 o’clock Friday morning and ended his sufferings. His death was due to a complication of diseases and although his friends feared that his life would be short the community was both shocked and grieved to learn of the death of this splendid young man.
The funeral services were held from the Lutheran church east of Wallingford Saturday afternoon, June 29th, Rev Paulsrud officiating, assisted by Rev. Strand. The church was filled to its capacity and the young people of the community showed their high appreciation of their dead friend by the profusion of beautiful flowers.
Stephen H. Egertson was born in Emmet County, Iowa, January 13, 1884, which made his age at the time of his death, 25 years, 5 months and 3 days. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Egertson and leaves both his parents, two brothers and four sisters to mourn his untimely death. His brothers are Eric Egertson, who lives on his farm in Twelve Mile Lake Township and Lewis Egertson, who is at home with his parents. His sisters are Misses Gunda, Belle and Emma Egertson, who are at home, and Mrs. A.H. Gunderson, of Lodi, Wisconsin. The community has suffered a severe loss in the death of Mr. Egertson because he was a splendid citizen and an active member of his church and he was ever ready to lend a helping hand to anybody that needed it. He was of a very pleasant and admirable character, faithful and honorable in all his dealings and an inspiration towards cheerfulness in the home and in society, and wherever he came he carried sunshine and cheerfulness with him. A host of friends mourn his death and an empty place will be found in our circle of friends which never can be filled, but his memory will be one of the fondest remembrances of many a dear friend.
