Mrs. Nels Mickelson Dies at 79

Mrs. Nels (Anna) Mickelson, 79, a lifetime resident of Emmet county, died at Holy Family hospital at 9:20 last night. She had been ill with cancer for several months prior to her death.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellef Ellefson, she was born in High Lake township Aug. 12, 1873. Mrs. Mickelson attended the public schools in Emmet county and on July 8, 1898 she was united in marriage to Nels Mickelson. The couple farmed in High Lake township until 1930 when they moved to the town of Wallingford. Mrs. Mickelson was active in community work and was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church all her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away Dec. 24, 1947. Surviving are two sons, Melvin of Fairmont and Norman of Wallingford, one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Adelia) Wolden of Wallingford, and seven grandchildren.

Services under the direction of the Rev. C.B. Gunderson will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Albert Wolden home and at 2:00 in the Wallngford Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Wallingford Lutheran cemetery. Friends may call at Sandin funeral home from Saturday noon until Monday morning. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 1, 1952)
