Estherville Woman Dies After Crash
Mrs. Wallace (Nina Marie) Berg, 60, Estherville, died at 12:30 p.m. Jan 15 in Holy Family Hospital.She had been taken there following a three-car accident Jan. 9 on Highway 9, east of Superior. Mrs. Berg’s eastbound car had collided with westbound vehicles driven by Mrs. Forrest Tow, Jackson, and Mrs. Irene Osborne. Mrs. Berg was hospitalized with multiple fractured ribs and chin lacerations. Death resulted from complications due to the accident.
She was born Feb. 28, 1913 at Riga, N.D., to Oren and Emily Cleary Platt. She came with her family to Estherville in 1918 and was educated here, graduating in the class of 1931. On Dec. 27, 1939, she was married to Wallace T. Berg at Blair, Neb. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge.
Survivors include her husband; one brother, Dr. D.W. Platt of Albert Lea; and two sisters, Mrs. Willard (Helen) Hyer, Estherville, and Mrs. Henry (Flossie) Miller, Graettinger. Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Orel.
It was Mrs. Berg’s request, in consideration of her survivors, that no funeral services be held and that her body be given to a medical center. Friends wishing to participate in memorials may send their contributions to charities of their own choice in Mrs. Berg’s memory.
