Estherville – Funeral services for Darlene E. [Eleanore] Andresen, 83, of Terril will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril with Pastor Ralph Shorey officiating. Interment will be held at Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. She died on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. today at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Darlene was born on March 21, 1921 in Estherville, the daughter of Lennie Emery and Mary Theresa (Koppie) Bevard. Darlene’s father was employed by the Rock Island Railroad and Darlene received her education in several schools including Estherville, Britt, Garner and West Bend.
On Aug. 6, 1939, Darlene was united in marriage to Herman W. Andresen Sr. in Estherville. Following their marriage the couple made their home southwest of Wallingford. Later they moved to a farm east of Wallingford to make their home.
They farmed there until 1956, then moved to a farm east of Terril, where they remained until their retirement. After retiring, the couple made their home in Terril.
Darlene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril, Immanuel Women and the MM Club.
Left to cherish Darlene’s memory are her husband, Herman of Terril; five children, Darla Crosser and her husband, Micheal of Eldora; Herman “Bill” Andresen Jr. and his wife, Leslie of Phoenix, Ari.; Susan Erickson and her husband, Leonard of Cuba, N.M.; Constance Sidles and her husband, Dwayne of Terril; Andrew Andresen and his wife, Sharon of Blue Grass; foster daughter, Marilyn Monahan of Mason City; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
Preceding Darlene in death were her parents; an infant sister; one sister; two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 3, 2004)
