Estherville – Services for August (Augie) Andresen, 89, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver with Pastor Jack Torgersen officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery at Wallingford. He died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1995 at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home.

He was born April 15, 1906 at Schaller, the son of Andrew and Helena (Peterson) Andresen. He grew up at Schaller and attended country schools in Sac and Emmet Counties. In 1920 the family moved to a farm in Emmet Co. In 1934 he married Clara Olson at Schaller. After marriage the couple moved to a farm near Graettinger and later High Lake Twp. in Emmet Co. He retired from farming in 1974 and 1987 moved into Graettinger. He had been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since 1989.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Gruver where he served on the church council. He served on the Federal Land Bank District Board in Emmetsburg and was a director for the Wallingford Co-op Elevator. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include sisters, Emma Thompson, Belmond and Mrs. Ervin (Helen) Matheason of Graettinger; brother, Herman of Terril; sister-in-law Clara Andresen, Graettinger and brother-in-law, Harold Howard, Estherville; 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife who died in 1942; a brother and a sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 30, 1995)
