Andrew Andresen died the morning of Aug. 24 at Holy Family hospital at the age of 73. He had undergone surgery Aug. 14, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage the following Monday and gradually grew weaker until he passed away.

Born March 1, 1879 [per cemetery records, 1878], at Niehull Schleswig-Holstein in Germany his parents were Henry and Yetta Andresen. He was one of a family of five children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Niehull.

When he was 14 years old, Mr. Andresen came alone to America. He came to Nebraska first where he worked as a farmhand. Some time later he started farming for himself there until he moved to Schaller.

In 1904 in Schaller he married Lena Peterson and seven children were born to this union: Etta, August, Ernest, Dorothy, Emma, Herman and Helen.

Mr. Andresen bought and operated a farm in Emmet county where he continued to live until the spring of 1944 when he retired and moved to Wallingford. He became a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church in 1947 and continued as a member until his death.

Surviving his death are his wife; three sons, August of Estherville, Ernest of Graettinger, Herman of Wallingford; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Etta) Howard of Estherville, Mrs. A.F. (Emma) Thompson of Belmond, and Mrs. Ervin (Helen) Matheson of Wallingford; 12 grandchildren and two brothers Magnus of Germany and Hans of Schaller, and many other relatives and friends.

Persons from Schaller attending the funeral were Mrs. Josie McClinic Mr. and Mrs. Hans Andresen, Henry Andresen, Mrs. Mae Berese, Mrs. A.N. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson Sr., Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hanson, Mrs. Thea Olson, Nellie Olson, Leonard Olson and Olaf Olson. Other persons from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Anderson of Ellsworth, Martin Jorgenson of Storm Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Dreesen and Darrell of Hartington, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Duane Dreesen, donald and Diane of Hartington and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sidles of Emmetsburg.
