Hold Rites for Mrs. J. Anderson of Wallingford
Funeral services for Mrs. James Anderson, who died Friday at her home in Wallingford, were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church east of Wallingford. The Rev. P.A. Davies officiated. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Charles and Chris, and one daughter, Mrs. Kate Misner [Misener], two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all of Wallingford, and one brother, who lives in Denmark.Mary Nelson was born in Herdum, Denmark, on the 27th day of December, 1850, and died at Wallingford on the 18th day of October, 1929, at the age of 78. Her earlier years were spent in Denmark, where she attended school and was confirmed in the Lutheran church.
In 1873, as a young woman 22 years of age, she came alone to America and at Cedar Falls was married on the 29th day of June of that year to James Anderson to whom she had been engaged before he had left the old country.
While Mr. Anderson was working for the B.C.R. and N. railroad, now known as the Rock Island, the family moved from place to place, living two years at Jessup, Iowa, and three years at Waterloo. Forty-seven years ago when the railroad was first built through here, Mr. Anderson brought his family to Wallingford and this has been their home ever since.
Mrs. Anderson was a loving wife and a true mother. She loved to serve her dear ones in the home which was the center of all her life’s interests. Living all these years at Wallingford she has seen the people come and go and there has never been a call of need but what she has been anxious to help.
