Estherville – Services for Margaret Bevan Egeland, 87, of Estherville, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Kermit Rye and Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. She died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1993 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 3, 1906 at Harrold, S.D. the daughter of Sargent and Eugenia (Bemis) Bevan and moved with her family to Estherville in 1915. She attended Estherville School graduating in 1924. She taught country schools in Emmet County before her marriage to Jens Egeland on June 16, 1926 in Estherville. They lived in Wallingford then moved to Roland and in 1936 returned to a farm near Wallingford. In 1942 moved northwest of Estherville; in 1969 moved to Gruver. Following her husband’s death she continued living at Gruver until becoming a resident of Good Samaritan Center in August, 1984.

She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, Hannah Circle, Know your Neighbor Club, Emmet County Farm Bureau Women and Estherville PTA.

Survivors include six sons: Richard of Toppenish, Wash., Donald of Ossian, James of Jackson, Minn., Jon of Estherville, William of Postville and David of Dolliver; five daughters: Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Ellen) Inbody of Spirit Lake; Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Schichtl and Phyllis Palmer of Estherville; Ruth Egeland of Keokuk and Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Petersen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Bevan of Granger, Wash.; two sisters: Mrs. Max (Annie) Spicer of Denver and Mrs. Luverne (Imogene) Bowersox of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband who died May 10, 1972; two sons, one grandson, three great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, December 22, 1993)
