Jens Egeland Dies at 69
Jens S. [Sigurd] Egeland, 69, died yesterday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital after having been ill for eight years with emphysema and complications.

He was born April 25, 1903, at Wallingford, the son of Ole and Helena [Nelson] Egeland. He received his education in Emmet county schools and farmed in Roland, Wallingford and Estherville areas. He also was a livestock buyer.

He was married June 16, 1926, to Margaret Bevan at Estherville.

He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church.

Surviving are his widow, five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Ellen) Inbody of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Schichtl, Estherville; Mrs. Roy (Phyllis) Palmer of Baldwin, N.Y., Ruth Egeland of Keokuk and Mrs. Rich (Carolyn) Peterson of Sioux Falls; six sons, Richard of Toppenish, Wash., Donald of Ossian, James of Jackson, John of Estherville, William of Postville and David of Estherville; 29 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Gladys) Christian of Tracy, Minn., and a brother, Norman of Wallingford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and two infant sons.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Estherville Lutheran church with burial in Riverside cemetery, Wallingford. Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home afternoon on Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 11, 1972)
