Rites Held Friday for Clarence Egeland
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in Estherville Lutheran church for Clarence C. Egeland, 63, of Estherville, who died early Wednesday [August 2, 1967] morning at his home from an apparent heart attack. Burial was in the Wallingford Lutheran cemetery.He was born Oct. 13, 1903, on a farm near Roland, in Story County, to Mr. and Mrs. Christ Egeland. He was educated in rural Emmet County schools.
He was married Dec. 9, 1925 to Susie Herke, at the Lutheran parsonage in Wallingford. He spent his entire life in the Estherville, Wallingford, and Graettinger areas. He was employed as a mechanic and parts man.
He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Nichols, Storm Lake; one son, Gene, Chariton; seven grandchildren, one brother, Amos, Wallingford; three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Rosen [Roesen] and Mrs. Inga Rosen [Roesen], Vancouver, Wash.; and Mrs. W.R. DeWall of Fenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, August 3, 1967)
