Rites Friday for Amanda Refsell, 66
Mrs. Amanda Refsell, 66, Estherville, died about 8:16 Wednesday [November 15, 1967] morning at Holy Family Hospital from a heart attack.She had been in failing health for the past two years, and had been hospitalized since Monday.
Mrs. Refsell was born Dec. 31, 1900, in Norway, to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Egeland. She moved to the Wallingford area with her parents when she was two years old.
She was educated in the Emmet County Schools.
Mrs. Refsell was married Feb. 14, 1921, to Martin Refsell at Wallingford, he preceded her in death in May of this year.
They farmed in the Wallingford area until moving to Estherville in 1958. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church here.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Frederick (Esther) Fitzgerald, Estherville; Mrs. Harold (Barbara) Herbrandson, Council Bluffs; and Mrs. Harvey (Dorothy) Schroeder, Estherville.
Also surviving are two sons: Horris Refsell of Minneapolis, and Ole Refsell, Indianapolis, Ind.; 19 grandchildren, and two great grandchlidren; two brothers, Jens Egeland of Estherville, and Norman Egeland of Wallingford; and one sister, Mrs. Edward Christian, Garvin, Minn.
Mrs. Refsell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, and a brother.
Family services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, followed by public services at 2 p.m., Rev. Denzil Neumann officiating.
Burial will be in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church.
Pallbearers are: David Egeland, John Egeland, Gale Egeland, Orlene Egeland, James Egeland and Darrel Christian. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1967)
