Bedford, Texas – Services for Roberta (Valen) Scott, 46, of Bedford, formerly of Estherville, will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Estherville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be in East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. She died Wednesday, April 17, 1996 at Columbia Hospital, Bedford.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born May 25, 1949 at Estherville, the daughter of Robert and Gladys (Pope) Valen and attended Estherville Schools, graduating from High school in 1967. She was employed at Social Services in Milford and Estherville. In 1983 she moved to Bedford where she was employed at Zales in the computer division as a computer programmer. She received a bachelor of science degree in computer science from DeVry Institute of Technology. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hurst, Texas.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Andy (Stephanie) Gomez of North Richland Hills, Texas; a son Brandy Scott of Bedford; father, Robert Valen of Estherville; brothers Dennis and Dean Valen both of Estherville; nephew, Mathew and niece Maria, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 20, 1996)
