ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Duane A. Hatland, 54, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Ed Ward officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.
He died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at his home in Estherville.
Duane Allen Hatland, the son of Everett and Elaine (Probst) Hatland, was born April 5, 1955, in Estherville.
He received his education and graduated in 1973 from Lincoln Central School in Gruver.
On Dec. 3, 1976, Duane was united in marriage to Maureen Pattison in Sioux Falls, S.D. Duane farmed with his dad and worked at various jobs over the years including: John Morrell's, R&R Auto, Stall's Farm & Home, Estherville Housing and ECCOG. Duane enjoyed working on small engines and spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Addison.
He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish Duane's memory are his wife, Maureen; his children, Travis Hatland, his wife, Cassidy, and their daughter, Addison, Kara Hatland and Al Meister, all of Estherville; his mother, Elaine Hatland of Estherville; brothers and sisters, Robert Hatland and his wife, Kim, of Gruver, Jim Hatland and his wife, Virginia, of Dolliver, Lorraine Curry and her husband, Jeff, of Evington, Va., and Marilyn Soper and Mike Hatland, both of Estherville. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Hatland; brother, David Hatland and grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 16, 2010)
