ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for James W. Fox, 84, of Estherville will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Donna Gray officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

James Wiley Fox, the son of Roy D. and Dorothy (Tripp) Fox, was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Oelwein.

He received his education in the Estherville School. On Nov. 11, 1944, Jim was united in marriage to Naomi Stark in Jackson, Minn. Jim served in the United States Army during World War II. Jim received the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and one overseas bar. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the area.

After his discharge from military duty, Jim and Naomi made their home in the Estherville area where they raised their family. Jim farmed and worked for Kinnards Dairy, Harker and Beauman Lumber, then K&S Lumber, H&F Repair, White Tractors and Estherville Implement. He also drove school bus for the Estherville School District for 39 years.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Estherville. Jim was also a member of VFW Post 3388.

Grateful for having shared Jim's life are his wife, Naomi, of Estherville; his four sons, Michael Fox and his wife, Mary, of Woodward, Okla., Richard Fox and his wife, Arliss, of Cresco, Terry Fox and his wife, Debra, of Brodhead, Wis. and Jon Fox (Patsy) of Los Lunas, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother, Rolland Fox of Titonka and sister, Betty Lunde, of Esmond, N.D.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mardelle and Karol and brothers, Robert, Karl, Richard and Roy. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 7, 2011)
