Wayne Franklin Andre, the son of James Franklin and Alta Mae (Ramsey) Andre, was born on August 9, 1921, near Superior, Iowa, and departed this life on Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 78 years, seven months and six days.

He received his education in the Superior and Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1941. Following high school, Wayne served in the United States Marine Corp during World War Two in the South Pacific.

After his discharge from the military service, Wayne returned to Estherville. On December 1, 1946, Wayne was united in marriage to LaBerta Bruett in Estherville. He was employed by Sieg Auto Supply, also as a plumber and at Tobin’s Packing Plant before going to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1950, where he was employed for thirty-three years. He retired in 1983. Wayne loved to garden, feed the birds, and be with his grandchildren.

Surviving Wayne are his wife, LaBerta Andre of Estherville; two daughters, Denna Kay Hill and her husband, Jim of Chariton, Iowa; Joleen Carol Knode and her husband, John of Estherville; one son, Thomas Franklin Andre of Emmetsburg, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kortney Knode of Estherville; Dewayne Knode of Milford, Iowa; Denna Gonzales and her husband Ben of Estherville; Daniel Knode of Estherville; Robert Hill of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Andrew Hill of Chariton; and two great-grandchildren, Carol Ann Knode and Eliseo Gonzales.

Wayne was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville; VFW Post 3388; the Disabled American Veterans (DAV); and the American Legion.

Preceding Wayne in death were his parents; and three brothers, Delbert, Merle and Richard.
