Mildred Wiseman
Estherville – Services for Mildred Wiseman, 81, of Estherville, will be held Monday at – a.m. at the United Methodist church with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Thursday, May 4, 1995 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born Nov. 14, 1913 in Estherville, the daughter of Leonard and Caroline (Monson) Barrett and attended Estherville School where she graduated from high school. On May 11, 1935 she married Cecil Wiseman at Fairmont, Minn. The couple farmed in the Four-Mile Lake area until Mr. Wiseman’s death in 1956. Following her husband’s death, she received a two year teaching degree and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Mankato State University in Mankato, Minn. She taught in the Estherville schools for 22 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Judy) Bixby and one son, Jerry Wiseman, both of Estherville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sharon Wiseman, Iowa Falls; two brothers, Earl and Raymond Barrett, both of Armstrong; sisters, Esther Hogan, Sterling, Ill.; Mary Hoff, Brownwood, Texas; Margaret Hanson, Clear Lake and Mrs. George (Ruth) Thrane of Denver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil in 1956; one son, Robert, and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1995)
