Robert S. [Stanley] Wilson
Estherville – Robert S. Wilson, 84, died Sunday, May 3, 1998 at Holy Family health Services. Funeral services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.

He was born Feb. 3, 1914, in Emmetsburg, the son of Robert and Minnie (Van Zalen) Wilson. He attended Emmetsburg [schools] where he graduated from high school. He then attended Des Moines Barber School in Des Moines. He moved to Estherville in 1935. On March 22, 1940, he married Taman Martyr in Arnolds Park. He was employed during the war as a safety inspector at Todd Pacific in Tacoma, Wash. and returned to Estherville in 1946. He was foreman at Soo Valley company in Estherville until it closed in 1956. The 20 years before his retirement he owned and operated Bob’s Radio and TV. In 1976 the couple moved to Puyallup, Wash., returning to Estherville in 1983.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville; National Rifle Association, and a charter member of the Emmet County Isaak Walton League. His awards include: national, local chapter, recently, the states, Judge John Tobin Appreciation award for outstanding devotion to the Emmet County Chapter and contribution to furthering the ideas of the league.

Survivors include his wife Taman Wilson, Estherville; brother, George Wilson, Puyallup and Mrs. Roy (Margaret) Peterson, Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and an infant son. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 5, 1998)
