Estherville – Funeral services for Robert Weir, 73, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville with military graveside services by the VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville. He died Sunday at his farm home, rural Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Estherville.

He was born Dec. 22, 1925 in Estherville, the son of Lynn and Eunice (Shulz) Weir. He received his education and graduated from Emmet Consolidated School in Emmet County. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II from November 1943 through December 1945. He served in England and flew on missions from England over France and Germany as a turret gunner.

On Feb. 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Edna Klingbeil in Emmetsburg. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm north of Estherville where they lived and farmed their entire married life.

He was a past Emmet Consolidated School board member.

He is survived by his wife, Edna of Estherville; sons, Robert Weir of Waxahachie, Texas; daughter, Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Turpin of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Robert and Zachery Weir, Angela, Pamela and Bobbie Turpin; sisters: Betty Christensen of Estherville; Wilma Elvis of Winona, Minn.; and Mrs. Duane (Marilyn) Syverson of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 9, 1999)
