Word was received here of the death of Mrs. Melvin [Leslie Melvin] Sorenson of Badger which occurred Sunday. Funeral services were held Tuesday of this week at the Lutheran church in Badger. Mrs. Sorenson is a stranger in this community but her husband is well known here. Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorenson and sons, Harry and Melvin, lived here for several years before moving to Gruver, Iowa.

Melvin Sorenson was inducted into the army only a month ago and is stationed in Virginia. His wife was making her home with her parents at the time of her death. She was the former Grace Worland of Badger. (Humboldt Republican, Humboldt, IA, April 2, 1943)

Mrs. Melvin Sorenson, wife of Pvt. Melvin Sorenson passed away in a hospital at Fort Dodge after a brief illness of flu and complications. She was buried Tuesday afternoon at Badger. They lived for several years at Gruver, but moved to Badger, Iowa last year where both were employed. Pvt. Sorenson is located at a camp in Virginia.
