Leslie Melvin Sorenson, 61, Gruver, died Tuesday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D.He was born Nov. 19, 1909, at Hardwick, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorenson. He grew up at Hardwick, received his education in the Hardwick schools, and graduated from a Vernon, Minn. high school.
He was married Sept. 29, 1935, to Grace Worland at Marshalltown. He was a veteran of WWII and served overseas.
His wife died March 28, 1943. Following WWII, he returned to Gruver and made his home with his mother. He worked with Northern Lumber Co., of Gruver until they ceased operation.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Soren Sorenson, and one brother, Harry, Cedar Falls.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gruver Presbyterian Church, with burial at East Side Cemetery. Graveside military services will follow.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, until 11 a.m. when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
Pallbearers are Robert Woods, Don Kirchner, Ed Kutala, William Ramsey, Elmer Friesner, and Clifford Rauhauser. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 25, 1971)
