Estherville – Funeral services for Harriett [Delphine] B. Sidles, 90, of Estherville will be held on Friday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Estherville with Reverend Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Nov. 17, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with a special service from the Order of Eastern Star at 7 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1909 in Estherville, the daughter of Roy and Alice (Archer) Blazer. She lived her entire life in Estherville graduating from Estherville High School in1927. She attended and graduated from Estherville Junior College.

On Jan. 1, 1931, she was united in marriage to V.H. “Ole” Sidles in Estherville. Harriett was a long term employee of the Emmet County State Bank in Estherville. She held the positions of cashier, teller and bookkeeper during her career and retired in 1977. Mr. Sidles died Aug. 1, 1978. Harriett has been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville since January of 1993.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the UMW and sang in the church choir. Harriett was a member and past president of the local Social Order of the Beaucent and served as Supreme Worthy President of the Supreme Assembly from 1965-1966 and inspected 209 Assemblies in the United States and Hawaii. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Past Mother Advisor of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Harriett was a charter member of the Wa-Tan-Ye Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her two nephews, Richard Sidles, wife Sandra, of Estherville and Richard Deibner, of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; niece, Donna Sims, of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; great nephews, T/Sgt. Jeffrey Sidles, stationed in Germany; great niece, Sara Devitt, of Sanborn; and 5 great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 2 sisters, Katherine Waterman and Betty Deibner. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 18, 1999)
