Granddaughter of Chris Martinsons Dies at Hospital
Kim Renae Shottenkirk, three-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Shottenkirk of Swea city, died Thursday at 6:50 a.m. at Holy Family hospital. The little girl was born Sunday, May 26 at the hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. at birth. Other than her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Martinson, Estherville; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Shottenkirk, Swea City; also great grandparents, Mrs. Anna Peterson, Estherville; John Peterson, San Jose, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fisher [?] Bird City, Kans. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. T.W. Maakestad officiating. Carl Will, of Estherville, sang two solos “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “Precious Jewels” during the service. Burial was in East Side cemetery at Estherville. The little girl was the Shottenkirk’s first child. Mrs. Shottenkirk is the former Lorrena Martinson. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, June 6, 1957)
