Miss Sarah McKanna Dead
Word was received here Saturday afternoon of the death of Miss Sarah McKanna at Denver, Colo., where she had gone only a few weeks ago to recuperate in health. She died of consumption. Her sister, Miss Agnes, was with her at the time of her death. The news was a sad blow to her father, Mr. P. McKanna, who lives in Ellsworth township, northeast of this city, and other relatives who reside here, as their latest news was only a few days before, that she was improving rapidly. Deceased was twenty-two years old at the time of her death and her sudden demise was a great shock to her many friends with whom she was a great favorite. She was of a pleasant disposition and loved by all who knew her. Relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of the entire community in their hours of profound sorrow. Funeral services will be held in the Catholic church tomorrow morning, and the remains interred in the cemetery south of this city. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, January 20, 1904)

Died at Denver, Colorado, on January 16, at 4:40 a.m. Miss Sara E. McKanna of tuberculosis of the throat. A short time ago her health began to fail, and she was advised to go to a dryer climate. She seemed to improve her health until a week before her death, and all medical skill could not save her. The blow was a hard one to her family, but hardest of all upon her sister Agnes who accompanied her there, and was by her bed side until the end came. She was a patient sufferer and never complained and when her time came was content to go. Her last hours were without suffering. She was a loving young lady and to know her was to love her.

The deceased leaves a father and three sisters to mourn her death. The remains were brought to this city for burial, where the funeral occurred Wednesday morning from the Catholic church. Rev. Father Daily conducted the funeral services. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 27, 1904)
