Former Ringsted Businessman Dies in St. Paul
Ringsted – Funeral services for Mourits Mouritsen, 82, former Ringsted businessman, were held on Monday at the McCallister Chapel at St. Paul, Minn., with burial at the Lake Wood Cemetery.

Mouritsen was born April 1, 1886, at Copenhagen, Denmark, to Nels and Ane Mouritsen and came with his parents to this country when two years old. The family lived at Omaha for 11 years and then moved to Ringsted.

He was married to Tillie Andersen Jan. 29, 1908, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Ringsted. They farmed near Ringsted and later he ran the Mouritsen Meat Market and was butcher for many years. The lived a number of years at Worthington and later to Minneapolis where they retired.

He is survived by his wife, Tillie; two sons, Dr. Glen Mouritsen of Fergus Falls and Mourits, Jr., and one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Lemberg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Dagmar Christiansen of Ringsted and Mrs. William (Anna) Warner of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Hans, Emil and William, and one sister, Mrs. J.C. (Gertrude) Johnson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 24, 1969)
