Estherville – Services for Marie Glasnapp, 81, Estherville and formerly of Ringsted, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville, with the Rev. R.B. Flentgen officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Glasnapp died Monday night at the Good Samaritan Center.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Wednesday and until time of services at the church.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zitgel [Ditzel], she was born Oct. 29, 1897, at Westside. She received her education in Westside schools and was married to Alex Glasnapp on Feb. 28, 1917, at Glidden. The couple farmed in the Glidden area until moving to the Ringsted area in 1936. They moved to the Estherville area in 1957 and she moved into Estherville in 1967.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ringsted, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Since moving to Estherville she was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the church’s Ladies Guild. She was also named Volunteer of the Year in 1977 for her service to the Iowa Lakes Nutrition program and was active in the Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Glasnapp is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Irene) Montz, Estherville; two sons, Raymond Glasnapp, Kansas City, Mo., and Allen Glasnapp, Ringsted; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Bert (Martha) Richards, Dupo, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 25, 1979)
