Estherville – Edward M. Elwood, 70, Estherville, died at his home Monday afternoon.

Services for Mr. Elwood will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Jim Harmon of the Christian Church officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday until time of services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Cashius Elwood, he was born May 9, 1909, at Graettinger. He received his education in rural schools and was married to Mae Mixell on Dec. 25, 1931, at Spirit Lake.

He farmed in the Spirit Lake area until 1941, then in the Algona area until he purchased the John Deere Implement Company in Estherville, which he owned and operated from 1956 until retiring in1970. He continued to live in Estherville following retirement.

Mr. Elwood is survived by his wife, Mae, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Sandra Varady, Grants Pass, Ore.; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy Elwood, Gruver, and George Elwood, Gardner, Ill.
