Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ruby and son Lyle of New Ulm, Minnesota, Raymond Ruby of Rochester, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fritz of Ames and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Ruby and family of Storm Lake were in Estherville the latter part of the week, in order to attend the funeral services of Mr. Charles R. C.E. [R.] Ruby Passes Away
Former Resident of Estherville Dies at Ida Grove Yesterday
Charles R. Ruby, 81, died yesterday morning at 1:15 at his home in Ida Grove where he has been living since leaving here 8 years ago. Mr. Ruby suffered a stroke five years ago and has been failing in health ever since.The body was brought to Estherville today and funeral services will be held in the Mahlum & Anderson chapel at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Burial will be in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer of the Methodist church will officiate.
He is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs. Harry Sidles, and Merle Ruby, of Estherville, Mrs. Harry Fritz, of Ames, Leonard and Ray Ruby, of Motley, Minn., and Vern Ruby, of Sacramento, Calif.
While a resident of this community Mr. Ruby was employed by the Rock Island railway and was also engaged in farming. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 29, 1936)

Funeral services for Charles R. Ruby, 91 years old, father of Mrs. Harry Sidles of Estherville, who died at his home in Ida Grove yesterday, will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Mahlum & Anderson funeral chapel.The Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer, pastor of the Methodist church, will conduct the services and officiate at the burial which will be in the East Side cemetery.
Mr. Ruby had been ill for some time and had been unable to follow the carpenter trade for the last few years. He lived on a farm north of Estherville 28 years ago and later was employed by the Rock Island railroad here.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, four sons, a brother and a sister.
The daughters are Mrs. Harry Sidles of Estherville, Mrs. Harry Fritz of Ames; sons are Leonard and Raymond of Motley, Minn.; Verne of Sacramento, Calif.; and Merle of Storm Lake; a brother, Gus, and a sister, Mrs. Amelia Smith, both of Lake Mills, Ia.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, October 29, 1936)
Funeral Services For Ruby Today
The funeral services for Charles R. Ruby, 91, father of Mrs. Harry Sidles of Estherville, were held this afternoon at the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel with the Rev. F.W. Ortmeyer, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery. Mr. Ruby died Wednesday at his home in Ida Grove.
