Estherville – Funeral services for Hazel L. [Lydia] Justus, 81, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Joel Jorgensen officiating. Interment will be held at the East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She went to heaven to be with her daughter, Mary, on Friday, March 21, 2001 from Rosewood Manor in Estherville.Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
Hazel was born on Sept. 9, 1919 in Ceylon, Minn., the daughter of Henry August and Matilda Bertha (Schmidt) Prust. She received her education in the Ceylon schools.
She was united in marriage to Robert Justus in Portland, Ore. in 1947. The couple made their home in the Gruver area.
Hazel was employed at Rosewood Manor and Forest Ridge as a cook.
Her achievements in life were many, but the love of God, family and friends meant most to her. She will be missed dearly for her warm heart and caring way.
Hazel enjoyed baking and her garden. She has been a resident of Rosewood Manor since February of 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Justus and his wife, Sandy of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Paul Justus and his wife, Nancy of Glendale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Laura, Brian, Alyssia, Adam, Brittany, Christopher, Allison and Daniel; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn; one sister, Alvera Helmers of Estherville; one sister-in-law, Agnes Prust of Estherville and many nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Rost in 1984; Robert; her parents; one brother, Gus Prust and two sisters, Freda Tweidt and Maida Lindell. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 2, 2001)
