G. Petersen Final Rites Set Tuesday
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church for George Petersen, 68, who died Friday [April 16, 1965] at Austin, Minn., after an illness of 15 days.

Rev. H. Allen Wirtz will officiate and burial will be in East Side Cemetery.

George Elmer Morton Petersen, son of Chris M. and Isabel Petersen, was born July 18, 1896 at Halfa. He was married Dec. 29, 1920, to Emma L. Harris at Dolliver, and they lived in the Armstrong area, Albert Lea, Hollandale and Sherburn, Minn., before moving to Austin 10 years ago.

A retired carpenter, he was a union member.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leila Henley of Granada Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Marjorie Rolfson of Austin; and seven sons, Ervin of Iowa, Kenneth of Japan, Richard of Bermuda, Floyd of San Jose, Calif., Delbert of Sherburn, and Roger and Gordon of Austin.

He is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Carrie Odin of Estherville, Mrs. James (Myrtle) Anderson of Blue Earth, Minn., Mrs. Rose Buchan, Mrs. R.G. (Florence) Richardson and Mrs. James (Clara) Hamel, all of California; and seven brothers, Charles and John of Wisconsin, Forrest of Princeton, Minn., Wilbur of California, and Wesley, Verlie and Marion of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one son. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 19, 1965)
