Helmer Beenken 1914-1977

Helmer had brown hair an eyes and was 5' 8" tall. He was a machine gunner in Battery A 957th FA BN. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Adrennes, Rhineland, Central Europe receiving the European-African Middle Eastern Theater ribbon with 1 silver battle star, 3 overseas service ribbons, 1 service stripe and a good conduct medal. He was also in the CCC during his early years.
He died March 20, 1977 at age 62 years, 4 Mos and 22 days. He was in the Veteran's hospital and died of an aneurysm. he is buried in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong IA in the Harold Vidgal plot. His funeral pallbearers were Greg Beenken, Roger Beenken, Jerald Vigdal, Don Beenken, Allen Beenken and Adolph Meinders.
