N.M. Peterson Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack
The community was shocked when the death of Nealeard [Neleard] M. Peterson was announced Tuesday [December 14, 1948]. He was a strong active man and it was not known his condition was serious. He was injured at corn picking time in the leg and has been in the hospital. Death came from a blood clot caused from the injured leg.

Mr. Peterson is well known over the county, having twice been a candidate for sheriff of the county. He was a candidate at the primaries last spring.

Mr. Peterson was born in Jewell on April the 25th, 1891. He spent his early life in Jewell and received his education in the public schools and later the Jewell Lutheran college. He was united in marriage to Lila Fitzgerald of Fort Dodge on June 14, 1914. The couple moved to a farm in Emmet county in 1924.

Here he farmed in several places in the county and for the past few years has farmed near Wallingford. ‘

He is survived by his widow and a son Walter who resides at home and two daughters Mrs. Silas Benson of Jackson, Minn., and Mrs. Bernie Hardecopf of Armstrong. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 16, 1948)
