Estherville – Services for Andrew Peterson, 91, Estherville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Henry and Olson Chapel, with the Rev. John Bowe officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Estherville American Legion and VFW Posts. He died Saturday, April 27, 1985 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville.
He was born July 20, 1893 in Grundy County to Paul and Johanna (Anderson) Peterson and moved with his family to Emmet County in 1905 where he attended country schools. He graduated from mechanics school at Austin, Minn., in 19116 and served with the Army in World War I in France. On Feb. 15, 1923 he was united in marriage with Hazelle Shultz in Estherville and farmed most of his life in the Estherville area. His wife died in 1969. Peterson was an avid bingo player and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Nettie Eliasen, Greene; four grandchildren, Mrs. Curt (Linda) Fisher, Ark City, Kan., James Kent, Ogden, Mrs. Tom (Debra) Hatting, Denver, Colo., and Mrs.Chris (Robin) Sorensen, Denver, Colo.; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazelle; a daughter, Doris in 1968, his parents, two brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 29, 1985)
