M.C. Peterson Dies Saturday
Melvin Clarence Peterson, 60, Estherville, died early Saturday, Feb. 5, 1972, at his home. He apparently suffered a heart attack.

Services for the family will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, followed by public services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Richard Pearson will officiate. Burial will be at East Side Cemetery.

Peterson was born May 11, 1911, at Missouri Valley to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson. He was educated in Missouri Valley schools and after graduation from high school he moved to Seattle, Wash., where he lived until 1948, when he moved to Graettinger. In Graettinger he operated a gas station.

He was married June 20, 1951, to Helen Westfall in Nashua. They moved to Estherville in 1952, where he was the operator of Peterson Radiator Service until his death. Peterson was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Cora, a student at South Dakota State University at Brookings, and Heidi, at home; two sons, Wayne, in the U.S. Marine Corps, Quantico, VA., and Henry Andrew, U.S. Army, College Park, Ga.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Carl T. Peterson, Ruthven, and Elmer, Boonton, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Pallbearers in the funeral services will be Paul Hantleman, Richard Westfall, Craig Gilbaugh, John Peterson, Glen Peterson and James Helmick.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, any time today and until noon tomorrow. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 7, 1972)
