Resident for 40 Years is Dead at 66
Mrs. Henry Petersen, 66, resident of Emmet County for more than 40 years, died Thursday [April 11, 1968] at 11:57 p.m. at the Holy Family Hospital where she had been hospitalized for the past five weeks. Mrs. Petersen had been seriously ill for more than five months.

The former Christina Marie Johnson was born Oct. 1, 1901, at Durant to Albert and Dorothea Johnson. Her family moved to Humboldt County while she was a young girl and she received her education and grew to womanhood there.

She was married Dec. 3, 1923, to Henry B. Petersen at Rutland. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Petersen farmed near Goldfield for two years and then moved to Emmet County. They farmed southwest of Estherville until 1949 when they retired and moved to Estherville.

Mrs. Petersen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary and Brown Creek Club.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Donald of Estherville; five grandchildren, Dona, Lynda, Lori, Kent and Curt Petersen; one brother, Chris Johnson of Humboldt; and two sisters, Mrs. Kerry Schultz of Humboldt and Mrs. Hanna Taplin of Fairmont.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, her parents, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. William Planz officiating. A 1:30 family service will precede the church service. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Fuhrman Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Saturday until noon Monday when the body will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 12, 1968)
