Estherville – Services for William Papenfuhs, 68, of Estherville will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating

Interment will be in East Side Cemetery in Estherville. He died Saturday, April 18, 1992, at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Friends may call Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born October 21, 1923 at Eldora, the son of William and Hulda (Blumberg) Papenfuhs and attended schools in Rolfe. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Walstead on September 3, 1945 in Fairmont, Minn. After their marriage the couple lived in Swea City before moving to Estherville in 1948. He worked for DEK Rural Electric Coop, later known as the Iowa Lakes Electric Coop in Estherville from August 1945 to October of 1985. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville.

He is survived by one son, Craig Papenfuhs, Sr., of Estherville; one daughter, Linda Hassel, of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Elizabeth) Lindsey, of Rolfe and Mrs. Coy (Margaret) Jones of Fairplay, Mo.; and six children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, one brother, and both parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 20, 1992)
