Estherville – Services are pending for Mrs. Elvira (Vera) Nauss, 83, of rural Terril at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Mrs. Nauss died Friday [March 9, 1990] at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 10, 1990)

Estherville – Funeral services for Mrs. Fred “Vera” C. [Carolyn] Nauss, 83, of rural Estherville will be Tuesday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville, with the Rev. Dr. John Besore III officiating.

Burial will be at the East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Visitation will be at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. She died Friday at Holy Family Hospital at Estherville.

Elvira Ritterholz was born Nov. 18, 1907 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Knight) Ritterholz. She attended schools in Excelsior, then moved to the Terril area with her famly in 1919. In 1926, she moved to Lake Park.

She married Fred Nauss Oct. 10, 1929 in Estherville. After her marriage the couple farmed and lived in rural Estherville until the time of her death. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the neighborhood birthday club.

She is survived by her husband, Fred of rural Estherville; one son Jerry, of Estherville and one daughter, Juanita Leslie of Clear Lake. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Ritterholz of Lake Park and one sister, Mrs. Tillea McClure of Lake Park, along with eight grandchildren, Jim Leslie, Valerie Stratton, Debra Baldus, Susan Leslie, Steven Nauss, Mark Nauss, DeeAnn Omundson and Diane Beirne and eight great grandchildren: Michael Leslie, Kelly Leslie, Leslie Stratton, John Nauss, April Nauss and Nicole Omundson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, B.J. Ritterholz and Andrew Ritterholz, and two sisters, Betty Rosewarren and Marie Bahl. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 12, 1990)
