Longtime City Resident Dies of Heart Attack
Mrs. W.J. (Gertrude E.) Moore, 73, longtime Estherville resident, died suddenly last night at the Park Rapids, Minn., hospital where she had been admitted minutes earlier. Mrs. Moore suffered a heart attack while a guest at the summer cottage of Mr. and Mrs. John Bush of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Moore had gone to Park Rapids May 26 and had planned to return to Estherville tomorrow. Mr. Moore died suddenly last summer of a heart attack while staying at their summer cottage near that of Mr. and Mrs. Bush. Mrs. Moore had not yet opened the family cottage this year. Mrs. Moore’s body is being returned here to Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home today. Further details will be published tomorrow. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 1, 1962)

Rites to Be Monday for Mrs. Moore
Funeral services for Mrs. W.J. (Gertrude E.) Moore will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church. The Rev. Rawlin Johnson will officiate with burial to be in the Eastside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from this evening until noon Monday at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.

Mrs. Moore died suddenly Thursday night at a Park Rapids, Minn. hospital where she had been admitted 15 minutes earlier. Mrs. Moore suffered a heart attack while a guest at the summer cottage of Mr. and Mrs. John Bush of this city.

She was born Nov. 22, 1889 [Per cemetery records, 1890, per MN death index, November 23, 1890] at South Newfane, Vt. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Perry.

On Jan. 29, 1908 she was married to Wilson J. Moore at Agaworn [Agawam], Mass. Mr. Moore was employed as a telegrapher on the Rock Island Railroad. He preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1961. The Moores came to Estherville in 1936.

She is survived by one son, C.W. Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Verna Meyers and Effie Bailey.

Members of the VFW Auxiliary are urged to meet at the Union Baptist Church at 1:30 Monday to attend the funeral in a body. Mrs. Moore was a charter member of the local auxiliary. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 2, 1962)
